Sandlot Coaches Duties

  1. -Be available for necessary meetings
  2. -Hold a meeting to go over the rules with players & parents. (at one of your first couple of practices)
  3. -Notify parents of games, practices, rainouts, etc.
  4. -Conduct at least one practice per week, weather permitting.
  5. -Have team ready & on the field 20 minutes before scheduled game time for warm-ups.
  6. -Keep a scorebook for each game.  Scorekeepers must verify score with opposing scorekeeper & umpire after each half inning.  Home team will be the official book.
  7. -Must have lineups/scorebooks turned in 10 minutes prior to game.
  8. -Keep players in the dugout during games, & form climbing on fences.
  9. -Be in charge of player conduct, make sure players follow uniform rules; shirts tucked in, hats. etc.
  10. -Game summary sheets for recording game stats to be put on the website will need to be filled out after every game & signed by each umpire & coach.
  11. -Know the rules and always carry a copy with you.
  12. -8U & 10U- umpire other games as needed. (2 umpires per game, perhaps 1 from each team that plays the following game.)  Failure to do so results in a forfeit of your next game.
  13. -Supervise players to clean their dugout after every game.
  14. -The home team from the last game of the day on each field will be responsible for “sweeping” infield & filling in divots around home plate, bases, pitchers mound, etc & returning tools to the storage area.
  15. -Care for league equipment and return at the end of the season.
  16. -Responsible for staffing concession stand on their teams’ scheduled days.  Failure to do so will result in a forfeit.
  17. -Meet at concession stand for rain delays.
  18. -Collect a 12 pack of Coke products from each parent to donate to the concession stand.
