10u BALTIMORE, OHIO TOURNAMENT

The Athens 10 year-old “A” team emerged from a field of 21 teams to win the 2007 Baltimore Youth Baseball Association All-Star Tournament.  Athens defeated the Licking County All-Stars 5-3 in the championship game behind an outstanding complete game pitching performance by tournament MVP Adam Luehrman.  Joey Burrow delivered a two-run triple in the top of the fifth inning that ultimately provided the deciding runs.  

            The Athens 10s outscored their opponents by a margin of 46-9 over the span of their undefeated tournament run.  Athens used seven different pitchers during their championship drive and got significant contributions from their entire roster.  In addition to Adam Luehrman’s and Joey Burrow’s championship performances, tournament highlights include:

• Brody McGrath: 10 hits, 9 runs scored
• Jordan Ward: 8 hits, 7 runs scored
• Ryan Luehrman: 5 hits, 6 runs scored
• Sam Vander Ven: 4 hits, 4 runs scored
• Chris Reimer: 4 hits, 4 runs scored
• Liam Tompkins: 2-run single in semifinal game
• Wade Lent: game-saving, diving catch in outfield against Teays Valley
• Quinton Hart: 2 runs scored
• Alec Sikorski: 2 runs scored
