2005 ATHENS SANDLOT LEAGUE CHAMPION FINALS!!!
The Mathews Insurance Red Sox beat the Don Wood Rangers 3-1 in the Athens Sandlot Baseball League Championship game. After regular season play, the Mathew Insurance Red Sox finished in first place while the Don Wood Rangers finished in second place. Both sides faced each other in the championship game. Both sides having excellent pitching only a few hits were allowed. Skylar Schwarzel and Alec Ray pitched for the Red Sox. Ryan and Adam Leurhman pitched for the Rangers. Both sides had several strikeouts. Tanner Wood hit a home run for the Rangers to score their only run. The score remained 1-1 to the top of the sixth when Kyle McCarthy drove in a second run. A third was scored and the Red Sox held the Rangers in the bottom of the sixt inning to win 3-1.

SONIC REDS - Athens Sandlot Baseball League Champions (7 & 8 Year Old Division)
The Sonic Reds upset the Cooley Enterprise Cubs 17-10 in a June 2005 Athens Sandlot League Championship game. The Reds came back to win after being in last place during regular season play. The Cubs were in second place after regular season play. The Floor & Moore Giants finished in first play in regular season play but were eliminated during the first round of playoffs.
